In June 1496, a three-ship flotilla led by Peralonso Niño left Cadiz with supplies for the fledgling Spanish outpost of Hispaniola. The analysis of unpublished fragments of archival documents reveals unknown details about this expedition. These data will serve as the foundation for a future study of the hypothesis that Amerigo Vespucci may have travelled for the first time to the New World aboard one of Niño’s three ships.
