Norte, by Edmundo Paz Soldan, is an attempt to rethink Mexican border’s narrative from exceptional cases beyond the usual socio-historical coordinates of that narrative subgenre. The plurality of migrant identities of the novel presents anomalous and unpredictable forms of psychological response and cultural assimilation that discuss previous models of transculturation.
