Abstract

The following paper approaches Fernando Ortiz’s thought through his book El engaño de las razas (1946). The cuban author proposes an anthropology free from the distinctive and discriminatory criterion of races, free from the use of the word “race”. This work, which implies a decidedly critical conception of history, is linked to the reflection on “transculturation”, and in a certain extent, a continuation of it.
